Hal Schmidt

Hal received a Bachelor of Music degree from Texas A&I University in Corpus Christi, Texas, and a Master of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  He served as a Minister To Youth at the First Baptist Church of Henderson, Texas.  In 1987, Hal entered the yearbook industry as a sales representative / software trainer.

Hal has led many PageMaker, Photoshop, InDesign, FreeHand, and Illustrator training sessions for journalism workshops, seminars, camps, and conventions.  In 1998, he received the Friend of Journalism Award from the Texas Association of Journalism Educators.

Hal was raised in a printing family.  His father was the production manager of a daily newspaper, and his mother owned a print shop.  During high school, Hal worked weekends and summers at the newspaper as a darkroom technician and a copy boy.  He was a photographer for his high school yearbook at Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas.  For two summers of college, Hal was the staff photographer at Glorieta Baptist Conference Center in Glorieta, New Mexico.

Hal and his wife, Pam, have two grown children – an actor and a professional chef.

Hal is the computer hardware and software expert for the Houston Office of Taylor Publishing Company .
